The 1950s/60`s - Swing jive, the bop, and other dances. Rock and Roll music had started to take flight in this period In the 60s, dances became less partner-oriented. Popular crazes of the time were the Mashed Potato, the twist, and hundreds of other fun moves such as The Locomotion, The Swim and The Hitchhike to name a few. The 1970s - In short, the 70s were all about disco. The hustle, line dances, and the YMCA were popularized in this era. Saturday Night Fever is among the movies that show off the fun, colourful style of the 70s. 80’s dancing was a way of socialising too as there was no social media so youngsters met each other at discos instead of screens! This iconic and colourful decade gave birth to many different styles of dance such as Footloose, Flashdance, Dirty Dancing and moves made famous by singers of the time such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and MC Hammer.
